Bay Marseilles

Architect: N.J. White Associates Architecture

This Beautifull year round residence was constructed on the shore of West Grand Traverse Bay. The prime lake front property was occupied with a smaller existing residence which we removed to make the site available for a residence more fitting of the owners needs.

This residence's elegance of design was influenced by the owners time spent in France and New York. Carefully thought out details were assembled to create a sophisticated yet comfortable space inside and out. The residence with a cut limestone exterior is tucked into a remarkably beautiful landscaped site designed by Maria Tucker Landscape Architect that provides privacy and an ever changing kaleidoscope of color. This can be appreciated the minute you pull into the cobblestone driveway, walk the grounds, lounge on the upper terrace or lower patio area.

Carved limestone moldings, custom designed one of a kind hand wrought iron railings, and a Vermont slate roof grace the exterior and provide a timeless look.

The site provided an opportunity to have an elevated main level to fully take advantage of the great view from the main living space while providing a full lower walk out level with the view, access to the patio, gardens and beach beyond.

The interior design by Kim Abbott had us use multi layered moldings, built in cabinetry, stone and hand scraped walnut burl parquet floors, and careful selections of fabrics and coors to create a visual upscale interior space.

With our own millworks shop we were able to create all the interior built-ins and replicate intricate details used inside and out.

With long range accessability for the residents in mind we provided a barrier free entrance form the garage, installed a custom elevator which serves all 3 floors, and a guest quarters over the garage that can be used as a care providers residence. State of the art building systems were used to ensure energy efficency, comfort, durability and lasting beauty.
