Manitou Passage

Architect: Robert Holdeman, Architect

This cottage was designed as a year around getaway on Lake Michigan and has breathtaking views of the Manitou Islands.  The home is situated in the woods at the edge of the Sleeping Bear Dunes.  The location of the home on the property provides much privacy and has great balance of scale.

A massive native Michigan fieldstone fireplace creates the core of the cottage.  With its pine trim, timber framed loft and great screened in porch the home provides a great, relaxed kicked-back atmosphere.  The outdoor fireplace, Blue Stone terrace and conversation pit, outdoor kitchen and shower make the most of our spectacular Michigan summers. A wooden boardwalk directs traffic to and from the beach across the fragile dune eco-system.

For the guests that want some quiet time, there is also a cozy retreat that allows plenty of privacy from the center of activities.
